There's a new 808 style VST called Nepheton:
It's a valiant attempt I suppose, but even without the real thing in front of me to compare to, it doesn't sound anything like an 808. Also the graphics are difficult to look at and made me feel nauseous, and the interface is fiddly. My drum machine page is loads better, even though it doesn't try to emulate an 808 (all the better for that...)
I'm glad I don't have to rely on some idiot programmer's idea of what a digital musical instrument should be any more.

can you program yours from the computer keyboard?
the thing i hate most about virtual drum machines is that you have to program them with a mouse.
Hi, if you mean real time input then yes. If you mean 1 key = 1 step in the drum machine, then no, although I've been meaning to do that for ages, and it wouldn't take very long to do. I don't mind the mouse programming too much, especially since my GUI has the ability to input groups of notes at once (so to make a 4 on the floor kick pattern or a 16 note hi-hat pattern only takes one click.)
